About Unilever

The challenges a multinational faces when it comes to selecting a new access control system.

The challenge

A flexible system for improved efficiency

To increase efficiency, Unilever was moving from local processes to unified global operations and wanted a new access control system for its sites around the world. The system would need to adapt to local requirements yet maintain global standards and control. And it had to support Unilever’s agile working policy by being easy to use and enabling employees to safely work where and when they wish.

What they did

One system, one ID & freedom to choose

Unilever chose AEOS by Nedap as its global access control system. This gave them one strategic security partner and system, but the flexibility to select local partners for implementation and their choice of hardware – which helped increase cost-effectiveness. AEOS also meets a key objective of each Unilever employee having just one badge for all their access needs and the services they use.

Key benefits

Usability up & costs down

  • Cost savings gained from security control being centralised.
  • Based on open standards, AEOS can be linked to other systems.
  • Software is installed centrally, not locally, via a web-based interface.
  • Increased productivity thanks to ease of use for all employees.
  • Each employee is tracked via one AEOS ID that’s permanently up-to-date.
  • Improved safety, usability, flexibility and scalability.
“AEOS fits well in a wide variety of environments, giving us the flexibility we need as a global organisation. And Nedap’s business model, with its long-term cost efficiency, makes sense for a company of our scale, offering us the ability to expand our platform in the future. Unilever wants to work with suppliers that have values similar to ours and work to the same standards we do. We feel we’ve succeeded in doing exactly this by selecting Nedap.”
