đź“Ł Breaking news: Nedap’s on-premises access control system, AEOS, is the first access control system to implement certificate management from server to reader, setting a new standard in the industry.
You can read the full press release here, but in summary:
Nedap’s latest Device Certificate Management improves the already unrivaled AEOS end-to-end security
This happens in two areas:
- AEOS Certificate Management (ACM): Enhancing cybersecurity by managing keystores across all AEOS system components connected to the network, including servers, lookup/databases, and door controllers.
- Device Certificate Management (DCM): A feature within ACM, equipping both Nedap card readers and AEpacks with unique certificates. This enables secure TLS communication via the device certificate manager on the AEpu Blue controller.
The addition of Certificate Management to AEOS strengthens the system’s security by utilizing unique digital certificates to create secure, encrypted communication between all AEOS components, including servers, controllers, and access readers. This innovation safeguards the entire access control infrastructure, drastically minimizing the risk of cyber threats and unauthorized intrusions.
