In the last two years we’ve all seen in-person events being cancelled one by one, sometimes even two by two, as the world pivoted around health and safety concerns. But the need for knowing where people are and when, how often and why, has become even more pressing. As our personal and professional lives shifted to hybrid environments, so did the worlds of cyber and physical security.

Suffice to say that Intersec Dubai 2022 was a long-awaited opportunity for security professionals across nearly every industry to re-connect in-person, safely and securely. The event boasted hundreds of expert speakers, 6 conference pillars, and championed one theme: Uniting for the safety and wellbeing of future generations.

Nedap Security Management was proud to unite members of our own team, from across the globe, including colleagues from Nedap Identification Systems, to represent our stake in the security ecosystem. And we were happy to be at the event, on the ground, so we could share with you our 5 key takeaways from Dubai:

Takeaway 1: The organizers pulled out all the stops by having Sir Nick Carter, Former Chief of Defence Staff and Head of British Armed Forces, take center stage to open the event.

“It is a pleasure to be invited to speak at Intersec, particularly during a time where our national interests and multilateral relations are challenged by an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.”— Sir Nick Carter

Takeaway 2: A sense of collaboration seemed to fill the air.

Much of the content and speaker stages were full of panels and roundtables of industry experts.

They shared their stories and best practices around topics like smart cities, digital economics, the future of security, and cybersecurity—all topics that we’re also following closely at Nedap Security Management.

Takeaway 3: Realizing that face(mask)-to-face(mask) contact after two years is invaluable.

It was great for our team in the Middle East to be able get back on track and discuss future projects with some of our key partners and end-user customers. The feedback was priceless. And we came away with new hope, that in these turbulent times, new innovation and tech integrations were possible and just around the corner.

Takeaway 4: Mobile access for security and smart technology was a hot topic of discussion.

In this era of health and safety precautions, there is value in being able to function in a touchless and seamless environment when it comes to access control. Reducing touchpoints, crowding, and queuing for proper social distancing is not only safer but also compliant with health guidelines.

Takeaway 5: There was an undeniable sense of pride among all the attendees and service providers alike.

It probably had to do with the anticipation of everyone’s first in-person event in so long, but you could really feel the buzz and excitement on the floor and on the stages during the three days at Intersec 2022. Our team, in particular, put our best foot (and socks) forward for the event—literally and figuratively.

But it’s not just our snazzy socks that we showcased at Intersec. We also sneak-previewed a demo of a new locker proposition in the works and saw promising responses from the market.

You (literally) had to be there to see it, but no worries! We will be sharing the news and the solution publicly in the next quarter. So stay tuned….
